Item for GPRC Agenda
For GPRC Meeting to be held on: 8/9 October 2011.
Agenda item/subject: Green Party TU Group report to GPRC
Presented by: P.Murry.(GPRC Rep)
At the request of: GPTU..
Why is this matter the business of GPRC?
GPTU needs the ongoing recognition and support of GPRC for its activities on behalf of the Party
Conference: GPTU was refused a fringe, but had supported fringes on Free schools, Climate Jobs and Working Class Participation in GPEW.
Leaflet; Prior to conference GPTU raised funds to produce a new leaflet and had 5000 printed . Over half have been distributed from the GPTU stall at Confernce and it is on line at gptu.net/gptuleaf.pdf. Amongst other things the leaflet encourages joining GP and contains details of how to do so.
Anti-cuts campaigns Gptu had supported several local campaigns and nationally had participated in the Coalition of Resistance conference. GPTU was affiliated to CoR and James Youd was elected GPTU rep on CoR committee. The following motion was proposed by GPTU and passed by the CoR conference;
"We call on CoR to use all possible influence to persuade those Trade Unions who favour the use and expansion of Nuclear power that this is a false solution to Climate Change offering only the prospect of pollution and damage for future generations. We also call on CoR to lobby the UK government to de commission all existing nuclear power stations and to ensure, in conjunction with Trades unions, that all workers in the nuclear industries are offered a just transition to employment in more ecologically friendly industries."
GPTU will be participating ion the CoR European Anti-Austerity conference on 1/10/2011
GPTU will be supporting the TUC sponsored industrial action to defend pensions.
GPTU wishes to congratulate Tim Dawes for the work that he has put into GPRC which has included support for and recognition of GPTU.
